Question: I’m pregnant and have been taking Tums to help my acid reflux but haven’t found relief; is there anything more effective I can take?

Answer: I believe that my physician prescribed a generic form of Zantac 150 for me. Make sure to clear things with your doctor first though. My heartburn was so bad that water would cause it to occur. My husband referred to them as miracle tablets.

Answer: I have terrible, chronic heartburn. Never have Tums played a part in making me feel better at any time in my life. One remedy that I found worked well was a glass of half milk and half seltzer. Hopefully this works for you as well; it has done wonders for me. Have a great holiday season! Your Angel will be born soon and I wish you both God’s blessings!

Answer: My physician advised me to take Pepcid AC or the generic equivalent during both of my pregnancies. It worked for a short time. You could be surprised at the results you experience. You would be able to have your doctor prescribe something for you if you continue experiencing such terrible heartburn after trying the medicine. Protonix is what I have a prescription for from my doctor and I haven’t had any issues at all.

Answer: That troubles me as well. I suffer from acid reflux. At one point during the experience, a heart attack was all I imagined it could be! My first attempt to make it stop was Zantac and that definitely didn’t work. The next prescription I tried was called Prilosec OTC. My doctor told me that Prilosec is intended to stop acid reflux while Zantac stops only heartburn. She also advised me to use Maalox Advanced if I experienced any flare ups. When my husband increased the height of the head of my bed by 4 inches, it seemed to help. Some foods to steer clear of to prevent heartburn include: anything fried, acidic foods, chocolate, and mints. After using Prilosec OTC, I haven’t experienced heartburn at all.

It seems as though people didn’t fully read your question; a few are saying to take Tums!

Answer: Tums –  that is the only option! Tums have been the one thing that get me through my pregnancies and I typically start taking them as soon I become pregnant.

Answer: I struggled a lot with heartburn while pregnant, and make sure you speak to your doctor if it gets much worse; good luck and take care of yourself. I got no relief at all from Tums. Peppermints were what I relied upon to stay feeling well. Grapefruit seed is supposed to work quite well too.

Answer: My doctor told me that I could use an over the counter medication called Prilosec. After using it for about a month, I have had not had any heartburn! That rocks!

Since every person is different, your doctor should let you know that it will work for you before you try it.

Answer: Drinking milk and eating a piece of bread worked for me. I found that to be very helpful late at night. I am the parent of three children.

Answer: If you see your doctor, he/she will most likely prescribe some medication for you to take. Avoid taking anything other than Tums unless your doctor tells you to do so.

Answer: Milk works at times for me; the doctor prescribed Zantac 150 for my sister, but now that is available over the counter.

She said it worked miracles. My physician has me take Gaviscon. It tastes horrible, but it works instantaneously. I could not live without it. You can buy it over the counter; you do not need to visit a doctor to get a prescription. I had a very bad case of it while I was pregnant with my son. My doctor agreed on two separate options that he thought would help me out.

1) Tums
2) Milk

I hope that helps. I found taking a combination of Tums, Rolaids, as well as milk worked really well. You should talk to your doctor if you aren’t feeling better after trying those suggestions.

Answer: Drinking milk may help; make sure you speak with your doctor so that they may prescribe something for you.

Answer: Gaviscon is something that works great.
