Question: I have heard that taking Tums during pregnancy is alright, but at what point can I begin taking them? I began to use them when I started getting heartburn at three and a half months.

Answer: I began to use Tums for heartburn in my final trimester. I was lucky enough not to suffer from heartburn before then, but they can be safely taken at any time during your pregnancy.

Answer: I began pretty much immediately, approximately six weeks or so maybe? Throughout my entire pregnancy I have had terrible heartburn. I am hoping that the old wives tale is true — that lots of heartburn means that the baby will have lots of hair. Hopefully the hair will be on his head, though; I’d rather not have a baby with a hairy body! My doctor told me that Tums is safe and it really helps. We purchase the large container of Tums from Costco. The berry flavor does not taste as chalky as the regular flavor does. I am fairly certain that I eat more Tums than anything else — I consider myself to be a Tums junkie.

Answer: It is safe to take them while you are pregnant. I began taking them toward the end of my second trimester. Occasionally the acidity of the vinegar in a pickle was calming to my stomach.

Answer: During all stages of pregnancy, it is completely safe.

Answer: I needed to use them several times early in my pregnancy. Now, at 26 weeks into pregnancy, I use them every day. I have heartburn all the time. This is just horrible!

Answer: I first started using them when my third trimester began. The calcium is also beneficial to you. Thus, there is no need for concern about taking them.
