Question: I experience fairly severe heartburn at least 3 or 4 times daily and each night when I go to bed. Gaviscon and other OTC medications just don’t quite do the trick! I visited my physician and received a prescription for Somac tablets (pantoprazole). These are very effective, but they are pricey ($30 for 30 tablets).
Is there anyone else who has received a prescription for a heartburn medication from their doctor that works well but does not cost too much?
Answer: Most likely you have an ulcer. You must have this checked into before it becomes a serious problem, but I would give Nexium a try. It a good pill for stomach problems, and you can find it reasonably priced at Walmart. Or request that your physician provide you with samples.
