Question: I have discomfort in the middle of my chest. It almost feels like I swallowed something without chewing it. In addition, I am burping quite a bit. I’m thinking that it could be heartburn, perhaps being caused by drinking too much red wine. Has anyone else had a similar problem?

Answer: Try drinking a half glass of water with a teaspoon of baking soda dissolved in it. It works quickly. Prilosec OTC and Mylanta are helpful too. If your symptoms don’t improve shortly and if new symptoms occur, seek medical help right away. I wish you luck. Nexium, Prilosec or Zantac are most helpful. I prefer Nexium because if you do have acid reflux disease, the medication will start letting your esophagus heal. You can also try Mylanta gelcaps which are available over the counter. I have had many stomach issues and have tried almost everything available. This helps the fastest. Or you can also give the liquid a try.
