Question: I have tried all available OTC heartburn remedies, and my physician prescribed Nexium for me, but it is not effective. Are any prescription drugs available that may be helpful? I’m at my wit’s end.

Answer: I’m sorry to say that I have already given Zantac and Maalox a try. This particular problem actually occurred when I was pregnant with my son and the problem turned out to be my gallbladder, so it might be wise to have your physician check if that might be your problem too. I didn’t have any symptoms before I got pregnant, but then during the whole pregnancy I had terrible heartburn, and soon after the baby was born I begin to have problems. Since that time, I have read that gallbladder problems frequently appear during pregnancy. I am hopeful that you will find a solution.

Answer: You can try Maalox, Tums, Mylanta and Zantac.

Answer: Zantac and Mylanta work the best for me.

Something else that many are not aware of is that sometimes too much acid is not the problem; the real problem is that there is not enough acid. The OTC and Prescription medications that are popular are created to decrease acid.

Answer: Whenever I have heartburn, I take Zantac or drink a glass of milk. If those remedies don’t alleviate the problem, I take a tablespoon of mustard. Simple French’s yellow mustard takes it right away each time.

Just a thing you might want to test out… it might help, it might not, but I understand what you’re going through!

Answer: It may not be easy to find, but I depended heavily on a gum that I came across in the HBA section near the antacids. My symptoms were so bad that I chewed a piece while I was on the delivery table. I used it all and discovered that it worked a miracle…along with a Vanilla milkshake every now and then…lol.

Additionally, I discovered some information about Sorbitol, an ingredient contained in a lot of sugarless gums, candies, weight loss bars and shakes. It can contribute to heartburn.

Answer: You can check with your physician regarding Zantac, but if symptoms continue after the baby is born, they may have to make sure that the symptoms are not being caused by something else. I had terrible heartburn that just wouldn’t stop, and when my second son was 3 months of age, the doctor did tests and discovered that I needed to have my gallbladder taken out. So it might be something else besides heartburn, but just continue to discuss it with your doctor, and don’t go to sleep right after you eat or bend forward. Milk is helpful for some people, but for others it does nothing. If you have small meals throughout the day and your symptoms still do not improve even when you take medication too, then be sure to discuss the problem with your physician. Best of luck to you!

Answer: Zantac worked wonders for me while I was pregnant with twins.

Additionally we used papaya enzyme, and this was effective. Strangely, the best remedy I’ve discovered is Big Red gum!

Answer: My spouse has a preference for Zantac.

Answer: You might want to take a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and wash it down with your favorite drink. I have heard that it alleviates heartburn — it has something to do with the acid. It can’t hurt to give it whirl!

Answer: During my pregnancy I found Zantac to work great.
