About Aciphex:
The purpose of Aciphex is to lessen the volume of acid your stomach creates.
Stomachs saturated with acid can trigger the existence of diseases such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD – also known as Acid Reflux) and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Esophagus damage (erosive esophagitis) can also occurs due to a strong acidic presence, and can be healed faster with the Rabeprazole component of Aciphex.
In order to ward against gastric ulcers provoked by infections with H pylori, antibiotics may also be prescribed with Aciphex.
There may be other uses of Aciphex not mentioned in this description.
Necessary Facts to Know Regarding Aciphex:
People with allergies to rabeprazole or other related pharmaceutical drugs such as esomeprazole (Nexium), lansoprazole (Prevacid), omeprazole (Prilosec, Zegerid), or pantoprazole (Protonix) should not take Aciphex.
If you are required to use antibiotics along with Aciphex, carefully follow all dosage directions as indicated by your doctor. Instructions given with the medicine should also be read comprehensively. Dosage and duration of treatment should not be altered without the consent of your doctor.
Should you seem to get better before the prescribed duration, continue to take medicine as treatment may not be completed. Ending early may not have the full desired effect of the treatment.
Discussion topics to have with your health care provider prior to using Aciphex:
Allergies to rapebrazole (the main component of Aciphex) as well as to similar medicines indicate that you should not take Aciphex. Address all such allergies with your doctor to find out if an alternate dosage, or a different medicine altogether, should be considered to fit your medicinal needs.
Liver disease – which can affect how your body handles Aciphex – as well as allergies to any other medicines, should be brought up when consulting a doctor to determine if you require different dosage amounts or drug use safety testing.
For optimal recovery, follow all dosage directions as provided by your doctor and medicine guide. Do not quit treatment ahead of time.
While Aciphex should not be dangerous to an unborn fetus, contact your doctor for all pregnancy and post-pregnancy stages. Aciphex is a pregnancy category B (according to the FDA) It has not been confirmed whether rabeprazole appears in breast milk nor has it been concluded if it is hazardous to a nursing child. Breast-feeding mothers should not consume Aciphex without first discussing possible effects for the baby with a doctor.
